  | Outdoor Gear and Snowboard ManufacturerBurton is undoubtedly one of the most recognized brands in the ski and snowboard industry. The company started in Londonderry, Vermont in 1977, when Jake Burton opened Burton Snowboards in his barn.Shortly after, Burton’s first board, the Backhill, was introduced. In 1984, Jake began the development of a Burton outerwear line and moved the business from his home to a larger office in Manchester Center, Vermont.By 1986, independent Burton product distribution had started in New Zealand, and over 1.000 shops across the United States carried the company’s products. In 1990, Burton sponsored pro riders Jean Nerva and Craig Kelly introduce Burton’s first signature boards: The PJ and Craig Kelly’s Mystery Air. Burton Global Team riders Hannah Teter and Shaun White won Olympic gold medals at the Winter Games in Turin, Italy in 2006. Shaun White had a record-breaking season, winning twelve consecutivecompetitions in the season. Burton has continued to be a highly respectable brand for alpine sports. Learn more about Burton. |
